TWITTERIZE YOUR CLASSROOM! Twitter is more than just flash in the social pan. It's here to stay folks, and we would do well as educators to hop on board.
Not only is Twitter an effective way to stay connected to both students and parents, it's a fantastic way to stay connected with other educators as well! I have learned as much from my Twitter PLN as I have from many Staff Development days. There are connected educators, researchers and media outlets with a plethora of resources that are yours for the taking. Collaborating and sharing with other educators from accross the country (dare I say- across the globe?) can keep you motivated, inspired and connected. Wake County's own Twitter account is legendary and reason in and of itself to join up (Trust me, you need to check them out!- @wcpss) Not only can Twitter keep you connected, it is also a great way to leverage a back channel for discussions in your classes. What's a back channel you ask? Well, buckle up and I'll show you! Below you will see some of the products produced by my students' backchannel discussions about literature. Today we will discuss all the lingo like hastags, follows, mentions and retweeting and I'll show you how to add both photos and weblinks to your tweets. No worries! Lurking is OK. We will start with baby steps. But start we must. One last note- Follow me on Twitter! @MrsAReid Examples of Word Art from my students' Twitter discussions... |
CHECK IT OUR FOR YOURSELF...Below, I am listing hyperlinks to some great articles on Twitter. I promise I am going to show you how to do this, but sometimes, teachers like to read for themselves, so I am providing a list of links as references. Enjoy!
